Mini Proposal - BFA Documentation
For my gallery management project, I want to make a online gallery of the process work that goes on behind the Bachelor's in Fine Arts Final Thesis. This means I will connect with all the students participated using various forms of technology to acquire media of them in the process of their work, the installation of the work, and the opening night.
Included in the process will be what they use to make their work, what their environment is like, what attitude they take towards it, and how they promote their upcoming show. In the installation, I want to document what challenges they face in displaying, especially when displaying with other artists. I'm curious to see if any shows work together in their display, have a common theme, or are completely segregated.
As an art history student, I do not got through this process. So, it is fascinating for me to be a bystander, and I am truly amazed at the determination of my peers to manifest their ideas. I want to share this with others through the form of a youtube channel and blog that will include those youtube videos and the images. As a final presentation of this gallery, I want to attempt to make a catalogue that represents each artist, with their artist statement and images of their journey.
The catalogue is an add on to the online gallery, and it will be costly to produce. This challenge will financially include a fundraiser to afford the opportunity of having a BFA catalogue. This would need to afford potentially a graphic designer, if I cannot design the catalogue myself, which could range from $100-300. Plus, the cost of printing the catalogue would be near $500. I am confident that I can raise $500, but hesitant on nearing $1,000.
Overall, the works will be displayed on the blog (most likely tumblr), and available for the entire internet to view.
