Working at the Visual Arts gallery I want to make a project
that is related to my work in every aspect. For this project I want to make a
series of videos based on the tasks that come with running a gallery. While
there are an abundance of websites that can educate people on the steps and process,
there are hardly any videos found on sites like YouTube. In this day and age,
people don’t want to turn to a book to learn how to cook or use Photoshop, but
instead rely on videos found on sites like YouTube, where they can follow along
or visually see how things are done.
At first I wanted to put my ideas into one video but I feel
it would attract more people if the video were split into 5 to 15 minute
segments. While the Visual Arts Gallery may not be the perfect example in
showing how a gallery is run, as it is funded by the school and isn’t driven to
sell the artwork, I want to put as much footage as I can into this project,
including interviews with other galleries.
While I have yet to decide precisely what topics I want to
talk about yet, since this is going to be a video project and since I do want
it be made in the best quality, I plan on learning about video editing and am
looking into videos like documentaries that I feel I can use as an example
within my own project.
